OUR DONORS:

The International Trust Fund For Demining and Mine Victims Assistance (ITF) is a humanitarian, non-profit organization devoted to the eradication of landmines in the region of South-Eastern Europe and the world.

Established by the Slovenian government in March 1998, the ITF’s primary goal was to help Bosnia and Herzegovina in solving its landmine problem and to help landmine survivors with physical and socio-economic rehabilitation. As other countries were also affected in the region of South-Eastern Europe it was only right to spread its activities to these mine affected countries. The ITF is now working in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, and Serbia and Montenegro. It has also supported programs in Afghanistan and the Caucasus region. Its work includes mine clearance, landmine survivor assistance, mine risk education and training in the field of mine action.

ITF is working very closely with the national governments and mine action centers of the mine affected countries to guarantee that the donation is helpful and useful also for the end-users, i.e. the local population.

OUR KEY PARTNERS IN LANDMINE AND DISABILITY ISSUES:

The International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL), launched in 1992, is coordinated by few staff and a committee of thirteen organizations. It brings together over 1,300 human rights, humanitarian, children, peace, disability, veterans, medical, humanitarian mine action, development, arms control, religious, environmental and women's groups in over 90 countries who work locally, nationally, regionally, and internationally to ban antipersonnel (AP) mines.

The work of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines has brought about tremendous change in a short period of time. In 1997, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to the ICBL and its then coordinator, Jody Williams.

Mines Action Canada (MAC) is a coalition of over 40 Canadian non-governmental organizations working in mine action, peace, development, labour, health and human rights that came together in 1994. It is the Canadian partner of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL), the 1997 co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.

The coalition's primary concerns are the human and socio-economic impacts of landmines and other weapons with similar effects. As such, the MAC coalition is committed to a complete ban on the use, production, stockpiling and trade of anti-personnel mines and other weapons which function like anti-personnel mines, including cluster bombs and anti-vehicle/anti-tank mines with anti-personnel effect. The coalition is also committed to ensuring that the needs and aspirations of people physically, socially, and economically affected by mines are met.
